COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION
EMPOWERING STUDENTS TO CREATE, LEARN, GROW, AND DEVELOP THROUGH THEATRE AND PERFORMING ARTS
CAST (Congo After School Theatre) Community Partner Program is a performance-based residency focused on empowering and building up the next generation of Black and Brown voices. By partnering with youth-based and youth advocacy organizations, our goal is to partner in the holisitic development of youth through leadership, community building, public speaking, and social emotional learning.
Facilitated by our amazing staff of teaching artists, each CAST residency works with students as an ensemble to devise a new performance piece based on their personal and community narratives and experiences. The residency will culminate in an original 10-20 minute scripted play that will be performed by the group at the end of the residency.
Each residency is customized to the needs of the partnership.
Residency Options Include:
Residency Length: Quarter, Semester or Academic Year
Session Frequency: 1-3 times per week
Session Length: 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
Residencies also have the option to build or support summer programming.
