Monifa Days

Monifa Days is originally from Detroit, Michigan and founding ensemble member of Congo Square.  She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, in Acting.  Since, she’s appeared in several of Congo Square’s earliest shows, such as, Layla’s Dream, Spunk, Daugther’s of the Mock, Before It Hits Home and Wedding Band (co-production with the Steppenwolf Theatre).  She appeared in a full-page write up in the Chicago Tribune, because of her dual roles in The Bluest Eye (original cast, Steppenwolf Theatre) and Layla’s Dream (Congo Square), which she was performing simultaneously, all while being a mom with a two-year-old daughter.  She won TNT’s Television station national DRAMATIC ACTOR contest, beating out over 2,500 people from across the US. Her prize package included $100,000 in cash and relocation to Los Angeles.  Since being in LA, Monifa has done several commercials and appeared on television shows, such as Criminal Minds, and Bluff City Law. She’ll be in the upcoming season of Queen Sugar as Ada Houser. Monifa is also a mentee in Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Mentorship program as a television writer.  She has several projects in the works so keep an eye for her!
